... Catholics pray the rosary?
Catechism requires Catholics to memorize and say the rosary, the Angelus, and other prayers, which are recited repeatedly:
"... the Catholic should know and say memorized prayers. 'So it is important that some of the Church's great prayers be understood, memorized, and said frequently. Among those are the Sign of the Cross, the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Apostles' Creed, an Act of Contrition, and the Rosary'."
"But vocal prayer is usually the recitation of a fixed formula -- such as the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Glory Be; or a Psalm or hymn; or a repetitive prayer such as a litany, the Angelus, or the rosary." OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, however, forbade the pagan practice of using vain repetitions in our prayers to God:
"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words."
"Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him." (Mt. 6:7-8, New King James Version)
